Mexican GP: Preview

The grid returns this week to Mexico and the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. With only 3 races left on the schedule, the big story is Lewis Hamilton and his fourth championship. Hamilton need only finish 5th or better to clinch, no matter where Sebastian Vettel finishes. Around the grid, Daniil Kvyat is out at Toro Rosso with that team retaining Brendon Hartley and Pierre Gasly. Charlie Whiting thinks Max Verstappen should apologize for his comments toward a certain steward last week. And Mercedes locked up the 2017 Constructors’ Championship last week in Austin.

Only one current driver has won in Mexico: Lewis Hamilton. The only other modern driver to have won since the series returned to Mexico is Hamilton’s former teammate and defending champion, Nico Rosberg. No other current driver has even been on the front row, with 2015 and 2016 having been Mercedes lockouts. Daniel Ricciardo trails Lewis Hamilton in total points in Mexico with 25 to Hamilton‘s 43.
